Job Duties:
Vertex Consulting Services, Inc. in Schaumburg, IL is seeking Lead Data Engineer(s) to analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to develop and implement solutions to complex applications problems, system administration issues, or network concerns.
Job responsibilities and duties include:
• Manage and optimize data architecture, ensure data quality, and developing processes for effective data utilization within an organization.
• Oversee the architecture and management of data systems, aligning with the company’s strategic goals.
• Implementing Data Processes: Develop and manage software processes that move data between the Data Warehouse and internal systems. Ensure seamless data flow, allowing efficient utilization of data.
• Data Engineering Architecture: Maintain and update the data engineering architecture. Focus on reliability and performance to support business operations.
• Data Accuracy and Quality: Ensure data accuracy by identifying inconsistencies and resolving data issues. Implement processes to maintain high data quality standards.
• ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Processes: Design and implement ETL processes to prepare data for use by various internal stakeholders. Optimize data transformation and loading for efficiency.
• Data Analysis and Insights: Analyze data to derive business-relevant insights. Communicate findings to stakeholders, contributing to data-driven decision-making.
• Consultation and Collaboration: Make data accessible through reporting platforms. Consult internal teams on data utilization and best practices.
This position does not supervise any personnel or participate in any management decisions, nor does this position plan, direct or coordinate the activities of any personnel.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) related field of study and five (5) years of post-degree, progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in any related position(s) in which the required experience was gained.
Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, skill, experience, and knowledge with the following:
1. ETL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS),
2. Javascript, Java, SQL, and Python
3. Hadoop, Spark, Data Warehousing
4. MS Windows, Unix
5. Three or more technical tools: Azure DevOps, Stitch, Talend, Visual Studio, Informatica, or Tibco
