Job Duties:
Vertex Consulting Services, Inc. in Schaumburg, IL is seeking Network Architect(s) to perform network modeling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures
Job responsibilities and duties include:
- Analyze existing network systems to identify requirements for capacity planning, performance improvement, and scalability.
- Design network architecture including LAN, WAN, wireless networks, virtual networks, and cloud-
integrated systems.
- Develop network topology diagrams, architecture documentation, and configuration standards.
- Configure, test, and implement routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network devices.
- Evaluate hardware and software requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Develop and apply network security protocols, access controls, and intrusion prevention systems.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues related to connectivity and network utilization.
- Coordinate with systems administrators, security teams, and project managers to define system requirements.
- Conduct network validation, testing, failover simulation, and disaster recovery planning.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and change control records for system configurations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers.
This position does not supervise any personnel or participate in any management decisions, nor does this
position plan, direct or coordinate the activities of any personnel.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field and four (4) years of experience involving network engineering, network architecture, or related IT role.
Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, skill, experience, and knowledge with the following:
Requires 4-years of experience in each of the following:
1. Enterprise LAN/WAN design and implementation
2. Routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLAN, and STP)
3. Network security technologies (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS)
4. Network monitoring and diagnostic tools
5. Configuration and support of routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent)
6. TCP/IP protocols and OSI model
7. Load balancing and high-availability network architectures
8. Network documentation and configuration standards
9. Troubleshooting production network infrastructure
No Travel. No telecommuting. Job duties are project-based and performed on long-term assignments at
various unanticipated sites within the U.S. which may require relocation at the end of each project.
